On Saturday evening, Ocala firefighters were dispatched to the 2600 block of NW 35th Street due to reports of a vehicle fire.
According to Ocala Fire Rescue, its Engine 1 and Rescue 1 units were dispatched to the incident location on Saturday, September 10 at approximately 10 p.m. Upon arrival, the firefighters observed a semi-truck near the 2700 block of NW 35th Street that was on fire, and it was located inside a fenced area.
Since the incident involved a commercial vehicle, additional assistance was requested from OFR’s Engine 3 and Battalion Chief 11 units.
Engine 1’s crews attacked the flames with a pre-connected hose line while Rescue 1’s crews cut through the gate to access the fenced-in area.
Within three minutes, the fire was knocked down using a chemical that creates a higher evaporation temperate to extinguish the flames at a faster rate, according to OFR. Engine 3’s crews refilled Engine 1’s water, and crew members from Engine 1 checked the incident location for hot spots.
Battallion Chief 11 confirmed that the call was in Marion County Fire Rescue’s jurisdiction, and additional MCFR units were also dispatched to the scene.
OFR states that there were no occupants or witnesses at the scene, and no injuries were reported.
