The Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County will kick off its Give4Marion event this week, and nonprofit organizations across Ocala, Marion County, and surrounding communities will be taking part in the 33-hour fundraising campaign.
The third annual Give4Marion event will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, and it will run continuously through 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21. The extended event is designed to raise money and awareness for local nonprofits in Ocala and Marion County.
Give4Marion offers people a convenient way to give to multiple nonprofit organizations and charitable funds through a single platform. In 2021, the second installment of the event generated just over $532,000 for local nonprofits.
A total of 87 nonprofit organizations will participate in this year’s event. According to the Community Foundation, a record number of local businesses and charitable foundations have also agreed to be event sponsors, offering bonus prizes to nonprofits.
A total of 32 power hour prizes will be awarded to large and small nonprofits, respectively, with the most donors within the hour. There will also be scheduled Matching Moments, where all donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100, and several nonprofits have secured their own matching gifts as well.
With a minimum donation of $10, people can choose from a wide array of nonprofit organizations from their computers and mobile devices. Donations can be made online using a credit card or bank transfer, and offline gifts (checks or cash) will also be accepted.
