Ocala recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month with Hispanic Senior Wellness Fair on October 1

(Update from the City of Ocala on September 28, 2022: Due to Hurricane Ian, the Hispanic Senior Wellness Fair at Citizens’ Circle has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host a fair this weekend in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.

On Saturday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Hispanic Senior Wellness Fair will take place at Citizens’ Circle, which is located at 151 SE Osceola Avenue in Ocala.

According to the city, this nationally recognized month is an opportunity to raise awareness about the healthcare gaps that exist in Hispanic communities.

The upcoming free event will feature multiple agencies on-site to provide resources and answer questions about health and wellness. Throughout the event, local health professionals will provide hourly health sessions in the areas of fitness, health care, insurance, and social services.

Over 20 vendors will be in attendance, along with two food trucks and entertainment from local dance groups. Vendors will offer informational sessions to share how they support the Hispanic Community.

The headline speaker will be Dr. S. Pares, M.D. from Lifeforce Healthcare. Dr. Pares has served as a physician in Florida for over three decades, and he is fluent in English and Spanish. He received both his medical degree and pharmacy degree from the University of Colorado.

Dr. Pares is triple board certified in Family Medicine, Geriatrics, and Hospice and Palliative Care. He serves as a community faculty member for family medicine residents at Ocala Regional Medical Center for geriatric education.
