No Hurricane Ian makeup days for Marion County Students

Students in Marion County Public Schools will not be required to make up any days of class that were missed due to Hurricane Ian.

The district closed schools for three days, from September 28 through September 30, as a result of the storm.

After discussions were held with the Florida Department of Education following the impact of Hurricane Ian, it has been determined that MCPS’s current school calendar includes enough instructional class time to make up for the missed days, meaning that all required hours have been met at this time.

The last day of school remains on Friday, May 26, 2023.

Makeup information for Marion County Public Schools employees is currently being reviewed and is forthcoming, according to MCPS.

For more information, please contact the MCPS Public Relations Office via phone (352-671-7555) or email (Public.Relations@marion.k12.fl.us); or visit the Marion County Public Schools website.
