Ocala resident voices concerns on loud vehicles

To the Editor:

I’m amazed at how many cars, trucks, and motorcycles have loud exhausts. I can hear them coming and going for a mile. It makes me wonder if the police care, or maybe they need hearing aids.

Also, there was a new law that music from a vehicle cannot be heard from more than 25 feet away. Motorcycles are the worst offenders. Maybe it’s time that Florida had mandatory vehicle inspections and huge fines for loud noise.

People get away with disturbing the peace because the police are either understaffed or they don’t care. If the Ocala Police Department added some temporary officers to just go after loud exhausts, speeders, red light runners, etc., then the tickets would pay their salaries.
