MCSO hosting ‘Safe & Spooktacular’ Halloween party

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office will host its annual Safe & Spooktacular Halloween party on Monday, October 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Circle Square Commons in Ocala.

This family-friendly event will provide a safe place for children to trick-or-treat on Halloween night. Along with an abundance of candy, the three-hour party will also include music, face painting, games, prizes, and more.

The Circle Square Commons is located at 8405 SW 80th Street in Ocala.

MCSO is currently accepting candy donations for the upcoming event at its southwest district office located at 9048 SW State Road 200 in Ocala. According to MCSO, donations will be accepted through Wednesday, October 26.

With Halloween just a week away, MCSO wants all families and children who plan on trick-or-treating throughout Marion County to remain safe. In a social media post, the sheriff’s office offered the following safety tips:

  • Do not eat candy that has been unwrapped, opened, or appears to have been tampered with.
  • Fruits or homemade treats can be tasty, but for your safety, do not eat it if you don’t know the person who gave it to you.
  • When in doubt, throw it out.
