MCSO provides update on gun found in Forest High School bathroom

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is currently investigating last week’s incident at Forest High School involving a stolen gun that was located inside a restroom.

On Friday, October 21, Forest High School, which is located at 5000 SE Maricamp Road in Ocala, was placed on a precautionary lockdown for a short period of time while law enforcement and school officials searched the premises for any further weapons. According to MCSO, no other weapons were discovered.

In a social media post, MCSO provided an update on the investigation and stated that “deputies have been pouring through security footage and interviewing students” following the incident. As of today’s date, no arrests have been made.

MCSO advised that the firearm involved was a stolen gun that had been taken from an unlocked vehicle a few weeks prior to the incident at Forest High School.

On its Facebook webpage, MCSO stated that this incident is a poignant reminder that gun ownership is a responsibility. “Please take your firearms inside and always lock your car doors,” added the sheriff’s office.

If any students know something about the gun that was found at Forest High School, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office encourages them to come forward and speak with their School Resource Officer immediately.
