Fort King’s Historic Homesteading series wraps up this weekend with cast iron cooking class

The Fort King National Historic Landmark will wrap up its 2022 Historic Homesteading series this weekend with a cast iron cooking class.

The hands-on class will be held on Saturday, November 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fort King National Historic Landmark, which is located at 3925 E Fort King Street in Ocala. Participants will learn how to cook meals using cast iron along with the proper care instructions.

During the class, those in attendance will get to make chili, lasagna, apple cobbler, donuts, eggs, and bacon over an open camp fire. All food and equipment will be provided, and participants will be able to eat everything that is cooked during the class.

The class is for adults over the age of 18, and there is a $15 fee to participate. As of noon on Thursday, November 10, there are still a dozen openings available.
