One student sustained minor injuries on Friday afternoon after a pickup truck crashed into a school bus on State Road 35 in Marion County.
On Friday, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a Marion County school bus carrying 49 students and one aide was stopped in the right northbound lane at the railroad crossing on State Road 35, near the intersection of SE 66th Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.
A 40-year-old man from Ocala was traveling northbound on State Road 35, directly behind the school bus in the right line, in a pickup truck. The FHP report stated that the driver failed to stop in time, and the front of the pickup truck collided with the rear of the school bus.
The injured student on the school bus was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
The names of the drivers involved in the accident were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
