Eva H. Raymond

Eva H. Raymond, age 98, recently of Ridgeville, South Carolina, but a long time resident of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 6, 2022. She was preceded in death by Dean Raymond, her husband of 59 years. Eva leaves behind her son Dean, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Eva was born on August 12, 1924 outside of rural Strasburg, ND to the late Anthony and Cecilia (Wagner) Hulm. She survived eight brothers and one sister.
She graduated from Strasburg High School, (North Dakota) in May 1942, and the Fargo Business College in June, 1944. She graduated from the Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing of North Dakota in Bismarck, ND in June 1950.

Having had enough of life on the farm, Eva moved to Minneapolis, MN and began her nursing career. She spent the majority of that career as a registered Nurse at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis MN. She met future husband Dean Raymond in Minneapolis and married on September 15, 1956. Eva and Dean spent their life in Minneapolis and later in Bloomington, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis. They retired and moved to Gainesville, FL. in 1983 and to Ocala a few years later. She continued her nursing activities working and volunteering locally in Ocala at Timber Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center and at West Marion Hospital.

Eva was quite crafty and over the years worked on many decoupage picturing, rose mauling painting, and calligraphy printing projects. She collected a little box of tricks over the years and enjoyed performing a variety of magic tricks for the kids, grandkids and eventually, even the great grand kids. With both her and her husband Dean’s families spread all over the country from Washington, DC, to California, Montana, Kansas, and the Dakota’s, Eva and Dean packed up the kids, hooked up the camper trailer, and trekked across the country every summer for years to visit the family and see the country.

Visitation will be at Hiers-Baxley Timber Ridge Funeral Home, 9695 SW 110th Street Ocala, FL 34481, Wed. Nov 16 from 9am – 11:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, at 12:00 noon and internment at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, 5050 SW 20th St, Ocala, FL 34474 at 2:00pm.
