PNC Bank “Grants for Great Hours” program donates $3,000 to benefit Marion County Public Library System

A team of PNC Bank employees from Ocala recently presented a $3,000 check to the Friends of the Ocala Public Library to help support the Marion County Public Library System’s educational programs for local children and families.

PNC Bank encourages its employees to join its “Grow up Great” initiative, which provides a progressive policy that allows 40 hours of paid time off for volunteerism with early education programs.

In addition, PNC Bank sponsors a “Grants for Great Hours” program where employees who volunteer as a team can apply for a grant to support an early education program, such as those provided by the Marion County Public Library System.

Over the past several months, nine PNC Bank employees from Ocala branches spent 100 hours volunteering at various Marion County Public Library System locations, according to a press release from Marion County. During this time, the volunteers assisted the library’s weekly family programs, helped to get craft materials ready, and set up program rooms.

The volunteers also helped with library story times by welcoming families with children, as well as assisting library staff members in multiple ways to better enhance the library experience for those in attendance.

“Ocala-area PNC Bank employees have provided such enrichment to the programs and services offered by the library, to our smallest residents,” said Julie Sieg, Marion County Public Library System director. “The PNC volunteers enthusiastically jump in to assist, with a real sense of partnership. It has been a pleasure to work with them at a number of public library events.”
