Charges against a 41-year-old man have been dropped in a Marion County case in which he had been charged with multiple counts of human sex trafficking.
On July 30, 2022, Alvin Harris of Fort Worth, Texas was arrested by the Ocala Police Department in connection with a case involving alleged human sex trafficking, and he was transported to Marion County Jail.
A little over a month after his arrest, Harris was released from jail, and all charges against him were dropped in Marion County Court on October 11, 2022.
According to court records, prosecutors were unable to conduct an interview with the female victim regarding the facts of this case. In addition, prosecutors received information that appeared to contradict statements that the victim had made during the Ocala Police Department’s initial investigation.
A filing decision on this case may be reconsidered in the future if prosecutors are able to conduct an interview with the victim, according to court records.
