In 2003, Tillis began his MCSO career as a Patrol Deputy, and he was later promoted to Corporal. He transferred to the Civil Division as a Bailiff in 2016, and he later became a Civil Deputy before he was ultimately promoted to Master Corporal, according to MCSO.

The sheriff’s office described Tillis as an extremely dedicated member of the MCSO family who will always be fondly remembered.

“We can only hope to carry on his memory as we continue to serve and protect Marion County,” stated the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. “Please join us in sending our thoughts and prayers for Ed’s family, both at home and at work.”
