To the Editor:
I read a letter about traffic on SW 66th Avenue. Yes, it’s horrible, but I live on SW 49th Avenue, and the traffic is even worse because I can’t get out of my driveway.
People are speeding all the time, and the SW 49th Avenue corridor has become so dangerous to pull out of your driveway because the people from Marion Oaks commute through this two-way lane. The sheriff’s department has been notified, but they never post up to catch those who are speeding on this road. There have been so many accidents and still nothing has been done.
I must agree that a lot of communities are being built in the SW 49th Avenue corridor, but our roads need to be safer for us that live on this road. And yes, traffic starts at around 4:30 a.m. It’s horrible and too many tractor-trailers are traveling on this road. Try driving southbound on 49th, from 103rd, and it will take you at least 30 minutes to get to Marion Oak Trail.
I really hope the police are out more often to catch people speeding down this road. I would even allow them to park in my driveway just so they can catch everyone speeding down this road.
