Mary Margaret Snyder, formerly of Connersville, Indiana, passed away November 29, 2022, in Ocala, Florida, where she had resided in the Brookdale Chambrel Pinecastle assisted living facility since 2014.

Born January 10, 1925 in Cynthiana, Kentucky, to Leonard and Betsey (Whalen) Fowler, Mary Margaret moved to Raleigh, Indiana, in 1927. After graduating from Raleigh High School in 1943, marrying and starting a family, she worked as a bookkeeper at Connersville Ford Agency (15 years); McQuay Norris (5 years); and Connersville Electric Supply (11 years), where she retired in 1987.

Mary Margaret was a member of the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir for a number of years. She served on many committees at the church throughout the years, including the Bereavement Committee. Other affiliations include: A charter member and past president of the Eagles Auxiliary; life member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary; former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Waterloo Homemakers and Fayette County Senior Center; and former associate member of the Ladies of the Elks #379.

Besides playing bridge, euchre, bingo and bunco, she also enjoyed reading, dancing and being with family as well as rooting for her Indiana basketball and football teams. She will always be remembered as an extremely proud woman with unfading integrity. She lived a long, full life always serving as a friend or role model to those around her and maintained friendships with many of her life-long friends from Connersville, whose relationships she held very dear.

Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her parents; former spouses (Emory Gordon, Roy Robinson and Edwin Snyder); sisters – Emma Jean Siefert, Wanda Benson, Phyllis Ponsler and Sandra Fowler; and three infant brothers. Survivors include: Two daughters – Gloria (Gordon) McCullum and late husband Harlan (Butch) McCullum in Ocala, Florida; and Glenna (Gordon) Riesterer and husband Paul (Pete) Riesterer in The Villages, Florida; Roy’s children who Mary loved as her own – Charles Robinson and wife Leonida (Nida) Robinson in Lake Mary, Florida; Roy Robinson and wife Robbin in Montgomery, Alabama; and Connie Sue (Robinson) Sacksteder in Anderson, Indiana; and one sister – Helen (Fowler) Strong and husband Jim Strong in Connersville.

Other survivors include: Grandchildren – Lana (Lucas) Sweney in Shelby Township, Michigan; Trey Sacksteder and wife Elizabeth (Liz) in Apopka, Florida; Brooke (Sacksteder) Harsh and husband Andrew in Wadesville, Indiana; and Matthew Robinson in Montgomery, Alabama; great grandchildren – Christina Sweney in Las Vegas, Nevada; Joshua Sweney, who is stationed in Chicago, Illinois with the United States Navy; and Luke Harsh in Wadesville, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Snyder will be held in Ocala, Florida, in December. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
