Fort King to host ‘Lunch with the Archaeologist’ this week

(Update: In a social media post on Tuesday, December 13, the Fort King National Historic Landmark stated, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Lunch with the Archaeologist has been canceled for this month. Our next one is scheduled for January 19, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.”)

The Fort King National Historic Landmark is inviting members of the community to attend an educational ‘Lunch with the Archaeologist’ event on Thursday, December 15.

During the event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fort King National Historic Landmark located at 3925 E Fort King Street, Gary Ellis (Director Emeritus from the Gulf Archaeology Research Institute) will speak about Fort King, artifacts that have been found on-site, and local history.

A question-and-answer session will also be included.

‘Lunch with the Archaeologist’ is free to attend and open to anyone who is 13 years of age or older. No registration is required.

Those interested in attending the event are encouraged to pack a lunch, bring a lawn chair, and join the archaeologist under the gathering chickee this Thursday.
