Marion County Public Schools will host a special holiday reading event in Ocala this week as part of its “Launching Literacy in the Community” campaign.
On Wednesday, December 14, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., MCPS teachers and staff will visit the Barnes and Noble located at 4414 SW College Road in Ocala to read some of their favorite holiday stories.
Readings will take place inside the store at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The literacy campaign was launched by MCPS in November, and its goal is for elementary school students and their families to continue the literacy lessons learned in the classroom with activities and conversations that go beyond the school day.
“Education doesn’t stop in the classroom, and we, as a school district, want to provide the resources to help all our students succeed,” stated MCPS on its Facebook page.
