Motorcyclist killed in two-vehicle crash at intersection in Marion County

A 37-year-old man from Tampa was killed on Monday afternoon after his motorcycle struck a car at an intersection in Marion County.

Shortly before 2:10 p.m., a sedan was traveling eastbound on County Road 484. When the vehicle approached the intersection of County Road 467, the driver began to make a left turn through the intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that as the sedan was turning, it entered the path of a motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle proceeded to collide with the front right side of the sedan, according to the report.

After the collision, the sedan came to a rest on the north side of the intersection and the motorcycle came to a rest on the north shoulder. The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and came to a rest in the intersection.

The motorcyclist was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The two occupants of the sedan, a 40-year-old man from Ocala and a 9-year-old child, were not injured in the crash.

The names of the individuals involved in the accident were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
