An Ocala resident was displaced on Tuesday afternoon after a fire ignited inside their home.
Shortly after 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Ocala Fire Rescue units consisting of Engines 1, 3, and 5, Rescue 5, Tower 1, and Battalion Chiefs 11 and 22 were dispatched to the 1400 block of NE 24th Street due to reports of a residential structure fire.
Upon arrival, Engine 5’s crews observed a single-story home with smoke rising from a front attic vent, and flames were spotted in the rear of the residence. Crew members also observed that no one appeared to be at the home, according to OFR.
Firefighters from Engine 5 used a preconnected hose line to attack the fire in the back of the property while Engine 3’s crews pulled a secondary hose line through the front of the home.
Engine 1’s crew members searched the attic for any fire extension and Tower 1’s crews were tasked with securing utilities.
While the flames were confined to an enclosed storage area located in the back of the residence, Ocala Fire Rescue stated that the home was deemed uninhabitable due to fire, smoke, and water damage.
No injures were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown.
The Ocala Police Department, Ocala Electric Utility, and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded to the residential structure fire.
