AAA is providing a free transportation service for members and non-members through New Year’s weekend in an effort to prevent injuries and deaths caused by impaired drivers.
The service will be available through 6 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2023, for impaired drivers that do not have an alternative way to get home.
AAA’s “Tow to Go” program operates on most major holidays and offers a free ride and vehicle tow. Over the past two decades, the program has kept over 25,000 impaired drivers off the road.
The free confidential ride is available to members of AAA as well as non-members, and a tow truck will take the vehicle and driver home or to a safe location within a ten-mile radius. In some instances, AAA may need to find other arrangements to help get an impaired individual to their home.
Appointments cannot be scheduled in advance, and the program might not be available in rural areas or during severe weather conditions.
