Ocala teen killed, three others critically injured in crash on I-75 in Alachua County

A 17-year-old girl from Ocala was killed, and three others were critically injured, in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Alachua County on New Year’s Eve.

On Saturday, December 31, shortly after 10:45 p.m., a gold sedan was traveling northbound on I-75 when the accident occurred near mile marker 384, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that the sedan had four occupants who were all from Ocala: a 17-year-old girl (driver), two 17-year-old female passengers, and a 19-year-old male passenger. According to the incident report, it is unknown if any of the occupants were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

When emergency medical services (EMS) personnel arrived on scene, the driver was pronounced deceased, and the three passengers were listed in critical condition.

The names of the individuals involved in the accident were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
