Tasty Bowl (2575 SW 42nd Street, Unit 108 in Ocala) was temporarily closed last week after a health inspector observed roach activity inside the restaurant

The restaurant was cited for a high priority violation after the inspector observed live roaches under the front counter (3), under several prep tables (8), under the wok station on pipe gas lines (3), inside the rice warmer’s crevices and hinges (19), inside a wood crevice at the prep area (approximately 9), and inside a wood pallet crevice at the dry storage area (10), according to the report.

A second high priority violation was cited in the report due to the “adulteration of food product.” The health inspector noted that a ‘stop sale’ was issued and an on-duty manager sprayed degreaser on the rice warmer’s hinges.

The report also listed a basic violation after the health inspector spotted dead roaches on the floor next to the soda cooler (2), inside an unused cooler (2), and around the motor area of a reach-in cooler (approximately 12).

The restaurant remained closed after the initial inspection, and the health inspector returned on Thursday, December 29 for a follow-up visit. The inspector noted in the report that live roaches were observed on the floor under a shelf containing bulk food bins (1), on the walk-in cooler’s wall (1), on the floor under a prep table (3), on the floor under the triple sink (2), and in the door track of the reach-in drink cooler (2).

During the follow-up visit, the health inspector also observed dead roaches on the floor under the fryers (1), on the floor under a prep table (2), in the drain under the triple sink (4), on the seal of the reach-in drink cooler (1), and on the floor under the steam table (2).

The report does not indicate whether or not the restaurant has yet reopened. In order for the establishment to reopen its doors, it will be required to pass a follow-up health inspection.
