Marion County’s Kayak & Koffee event heads to Wekiva River next week

The Marion County Parks and Recreation Department’s monthly kayaking program will take paddlers on a trip along the Wekiva River next week.

The event, which is part of the Kayak & Koffee series, will be held on Friday, January 13. Participants will meet at Brick City Adventure Park (1211 SE 22nd Road in Ocala) at 7:45 a.m., and transportation will then be provided to the event.

The paddlers will enjoy a relaxing ride on the water, along with coffee and light refreshments. At the end of the upstream kayak, participants will head to the “Emerald Cut,” a scenic and crystal clear sandbar, to check out the wildlife.

The event is open to anyone ages 15 and up, and beginners are welcome.

There is a $50 fee per participant, and all kayaks and gear will be provided. This fee will be lowered to $25 for any participants who bring their own equipment.

For more information, or to sign up for the upcoming event, visit the Marion County Parks and Recreation Department’s Kayak & Koffee webpage or call 352-671-8560.
