Resident voices concerns on rising property taxes in Marion County

To the Editor:

Our property taxes just jumped from $3,000 per year to $7,500. Why? I read that Marion County residents were looking at a maximum 3% increase. My take is that this is the HOA – they start stealing properties when folks can’t afford their houses.

In 2020, we moved from Spokane, Washington because of the craziness there. Now we’re starting to regret moving to Ocala after seeing our tax bill. Why the increase? I’m going to go to the county office to find out. We can’t afford a $900 increase on our monthly payments.
