Rita Louise Mulrey, age 72, of Ocala, Florida passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022.
She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina on February 4, 1950.
Rita was a graduate of Lenepee High School in Vincentown, N.J., went on to serve for 3 years in the U.S. Navy and achieved the rank of third class petty officer in the rating of data processer. She met her future husband on a blind date in Pearl Harbor, HI. They eventually married after her discharge in 1972 in Reno, NV. She attended registered dental assistant school, which was a new field at the time, and worked for several doctors until the family moved to New Orleans, LA in 1980. Rita started her 30 years in civil service as a training & safety specialist and reached the rank of GS11. Rita is survived by her husband Ed of 51 years and their son Clayton and two grandchildren Caitlyn & Tyler and two great grandchildren Jacob and Brandon.
Her hobbies included cooking, country line dancing, cruising and related travel. Rita was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).
She was preceded in death by her father Russell E. Handly, and her mother Regina M. Gravelle.
There will be no formal celebration of life or other services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Salvation Army.
