Pedestrian killed after being struck by car at Ocala intersection

A 42-year-old man was killed early Friday morning after he was struck by a vehicle at an intersection in Ocala.

Shortly after 12:35 a.m., a sedan was traveling eastbound on SE Maricamp Road in the outside lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that when the sedan reached the intersection of SE Bahia Avenue Court, the driver failed to see the 42-year-old man who was standing in the roadway, and the front right side of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian.

After the collision, the pedestrian succumbed to fatal injuries that were sustained in the crash. His name was not released by FHP.

The driver and sole occupant of the sedan, a 38-year-old man from Belleview, was not injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
