Ocala firefighters battle two vehicle fires in Bellechase neighborhood

Ocala firefighters were dispatched to a home in Bellechase on Saturday morning due to reports of a vehicle fire.

At approximately 9:15 a.m., Ocala Fire Rescue units consisting of Engines 7, 3, and 1, Rescue 3, Tower 1, and Battalion Chief 22 arrived at a residence on SW 42nd Street and observed two vehicles – a Ford Escape and Hyundai Tucson – that were engulfed in flames.

According to OFR, the vehicles were parked between homes, and the fire was not threatening the nearby residential structures.

OFR stated that crew members from Engine 7 began attacking the flames with a pre-connected hose line while Engine 3’s crews assisted with the water supply. As the fire was being combated, Rescue 3’s crews also assisted Engine 7 with moving lines and cutting the hoods to expose the vehicles’ engine compartments.

Within two minutes, the fire was under control, and it was fully extinguished in 15 minutes. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

No injuries were reported.

The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
