Discovery Center’s spring classes begin later this month, registration now open

A variety of science-themed spring classes will kick off later this month at the Discovery Center and registration is now open.

The 10-week science classes will meet on a weekly basis, beginning on Tuesday, January 24 and running through Saturday, April 8 at the Discovery Center (701 NE Sanchez Avenue in Ocala).

The classes will cover a variety of scientific topics including:

  • Create Scientists (ages 2 to 5) – On Tuesdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., participants will enjoy crafts, games, animals, and hands-on experiments.
  • Kids STEM (ages 5 to 7) – On Saturdays, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., participants will explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math with hands-on activities and experiments.
  • DC Wonderlab (ages 6 to 8) – On Tuesdays, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., participants will experiment, create, and explore in a hands-on class featuring Lego activities and crafts.
  • Junior Robotics (ages 7 to 9) – On Saturdays, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., participants will learn the basics of programming, robotics, and simple machines.
  • Strange Science (ages 7 to 9) – On Thursdays, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., participants will enjoy experiments while following clues to find out what strange scientific phenomena is happening each week.
  • Junior Zoologists (ages 10 to 12) – On Tuesdays, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., participants will learn about animals all over the world while getting up close and personal with some of the Discovery Center’s reptiles.
  • Robotics (ages 10 to 12) – On Thursdays, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., participants will learn to build and program robots.
  • Homeschool Science (ages 8 to 12) – On Thursdays, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., participants will explore various science topics in a hands-on class that is geared towards homeschool students.

The cost to participate in a spring class is $140 for Discovery Center members and $160 for non-members. This cost includes all 10 weeks.
