A 40-year-old Ocala woman was arrested after she was accused of choking a man and threatening him with a knife.

On Friday, January 6, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a local residence in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the male victim and Kristie Allison Navarro.

Navarro told the deputy that the incident occurred shortly after the victim took her cellphone out of her back pocket while she was serving dinner. She stated that she “just wanted her cellphone back.”

The deputy noted in the MCSO report that Navarro spontaneously stated that she had grabbed the victim around his neck with both arms. Navarro then gestured to the deputy with both of her arms to demonstrate how she had grabbed the victim.

After speaking with Navarro, the deputy interviewed the victim who admitted to grabbing Navarro’s cellphone from her back pocket. According to the victim, Navarro became angry, and she grabbed him by the neck and pushed him against the wall. During the incident, the victim stated that he was unable to breathe for a short period of time.

Once the victim was able to separate himself from Navarro, he stated that Navarro approached him while holding a knife and placed it against his neck. He claimed that this was not the first incident where Navarro had become violent towards him.

The victim did not have any visible injuries from the incident and he refused medical attention, according to the MCSO report.

After being read her Miranda rights, Navarro refused to discuss the incident any further.

Navarro was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail. She was later released on $10,000 bond and is facing felony charges for committing domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, according to jail records.
