Ocala seeks applications from teens, young adults for Developing Recreation Professionals program

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department is seeking applications from young people between the ages of 15 and 21 who would like to participate in the Developing Recreation Professionals’ Aquatics Program.

According to the city, successful completion of the program will prepare participants for certification testing and seasonal aquatics employment with the City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department. In addition, the program will provide each participant with valuable hands-on experience.

Those who are interested in the program have until Friday, February 3 to submit an application. Candidates can fill out the application online, and an application packet can also be requested by contacting the recreation and parks department via email at: [email protected].

Once all the applications have been reviewed, the top candidates will be selected and interviewed as part of the process. The training courses will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The city states that the primary goal of this program is to engage talented and driven young people within the local community to enable them to develop the technical and soft skills which are vital to the success of a recreation and parks professional.
