Dorothy Gatanis Badgley, known by many that loved her as Sandy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 12th, 2023.

Sandy was 1 of 12 children-born to Harry Gatanis and Mary Manning on April 10th in Upper Penns Neck Township, New Jersey. Upon high school graduation, Dorothy and her sister, Mary left New Jersey and moved to Miami, Florida.

Shortly after the move, she met the love of her life, Cameron “Bud” Badgley who gave her the name “Sandy.” They married in 1953 and spent 63 wonderful years together blessed with 4 amazing children.

In 1970, Bud and Sandy relocated to Ocala, Florida to raise their children. Sandy was a proud homemaker, wife, and mother. She was also an active member of First Baptist Church, the Republican Party, and the John Birch Society. She cherished her weekly bowling league at AMF and choir practices at Trinity Baptist Church.

Sandy loved singing, bird watching, traveling the world, and helping others in need. Most of all, she loved her family. Holidays were spent with family gathered at her home. She was the glue that held everyone together.

Sandy will be greeted in heaven by many friends and family including her husband Bud, eldest daughter Diana Badgley Studer, and son-in-law Michael Studer. Sandy will be missed by her 3 children- Cameron Badgley Jr. (Judy), James Badgley (Dawn), and Loralee Jeter (Matt);

8 grandchildren- Alissa Poulson (Bryan), Jacob Studer (Melinda), Cameron Justin Badgley (Deanna), Kristi Brock, Jessica Rojas (Javier), Katie Combee, Jennifer Badgley, and Khloe Jeter; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson, as well as 3 brothers and a host of loved nieces and nephews.
