Ocala – Margaret (Peggy) E. McArdle, 87, of Ocala passed away on January 6, 2023 after a brief illness.
Margaret was born in The Bronx, NY on December 9, 1935, daughter to the late James F. McArdle and Mary (Gaffney).
She is survived by her brother Robert McArdle, sister-in-law Carmelle McArdle, nieces Margaret (Meg) McArdle and Jannifer (Jan) Dawson, nephews James McArdle III and Conor McArdle. She is predeceased by her brothers, James, Terence and Christopher.
Margaret served proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Margaret was a retired AT&T telephone operator. She loved all animals but especially horses which brought her to live in Ocala, the Horse Capital of the World. She moved from Rosedale, NY with her best friend, Margaret Craig, to Ocala, where they lived happily together for over 50 years. She loved John Wayne, watching old movies, the NE Patriots and Notre Dame football.
The family would like to thank her very good friend Lois Lane for caring for Margaret.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24th at 12:00 Noon at Queen of Peace Church,6455 SW State Rd 200, Ocala. Burial will follow at 2:00 in Highland Memorial Park, 1515 NE 3rd St., Ocala. Donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
