An 18-year-old man from Reddick died on Tuesday morning after his motorcycle collided with a sedan on NW 100th Avenue in Marion County.
Shortly before 8:30 a.m., a motorcycle was traveling northbound on NW 100th Avenue and a sedan was traveling southbound on the same road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.
When both vehicles were near the intersection of County Road 329, the motorcycle veered into the southbound lane and into the path of the sedan. FHP stated that the front of the motorcycle proceeded to crash into the right front side of the sedan.
After the collision, the 18-year-old man was thrown off the motorcycle, and he landed on the west grass shoulder. The motorcycle continued off the roadway onto the same shoulder where it came to a final rest.
The man was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The sedan came to a final rest in the southbound lane of NW 100th Avenue. The vehicle’s two occupants – a 32-year-old woman from Reddick (driver) and 43-year-old man from Ocala (passenger) – were not injured in the crash.
The names of the individuals involved in the accident were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
