Marion County firefighters were dispatched to the intersection of NW 155th Street and N U.S. Highway 441 in Citra on Thursday afternoon after receiving a report that a mobile home in the area was on fire.
Shortly after 3 p.m., Marion County Fire Rescue’s North County units responded to the intersection. While on the way to the scene of the fire, Engine Company 19 from Sparr reported that a large column of black smoke was visible.

At 3:14 p.m., Engine 19 arrived at the mobile home and observed a working fire that was 50% involved. Additional MCFR units consisting of Engine 2, Engine 1, Heavy Rescue 2, Heavy Rescue 21, Rescue 621, B100, and Div1 arrived on scene moments later, according to MCFR.


Firefighters from Engine 19 moved quickly and began aggressively attacking the fire with hose lines. While the fire was being combated, Rescue 21’s crew members entered the mobile home to conduct a primary search.

According to MCFR, no occupants were found inside the mobile home during the initial search. A secondary search was also completed, and the residence was confirmed to be unoccupied.

The fire was under control by 3:29 p.m. MCFR stated that an investigation is being conducted to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury while battling the flames. The firefighter received medical care at the scene and was released back to duty, according to MCFR.
No other injuries were reported.
