A 25-year-old Ocala man was arrested by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a shooting that wounded a man in Deltona last year.
On May 18, 2022, shortly after 12:30 a.m., VCSO deputies responded to the 3200 block of Partridge Street in Deltona after receiving reports of a shooting in the area, according to a social media post from the sheriff’s office.
Upon arrival, the deputies located a 45-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
According to VCSO, the victim told investigators that he had just returned home and was in his driveway when a vehicle approached him. An unknown individual inside the vehicle then proceeded to shoot at him.
VCSO stated on its Facebook page that detectives used video evidence, license plate reader technology, and cellphone data to identify Amonte Daekwon Davis as the suspect.

On January 30, 2023, Davis was arrested in Marion County on unrelated charges, and he was transported to Marion County Jail. According to VCSO, Davis was released from Marion County Jail on Monday, February 6, and he was transported to Volusia County Jail where he is currently being held without bond.
Davis is facing charges for principal to attempted murder, principal to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and principal to shooting into an occupied vehicle.
A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
