Morriston driver involved in crash that kills elderly pedestrian in Alachua County

An elderly pedestrian died on Thursday evening after he was struck by a vehicle on State Road 121 in Alachua County.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., a 56-year-old Morriston woman was traveling southbound in a sedan on State Road 121, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

At the same time, a 75-year-old man from Archer was walking along SW 137th Avenue when he reached the intersection of State Road 121. When the man attempted to walk across State Road 121, he was struck by the sedan, according to FHP.

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

The driver and sole occupant of the sedan was not injured in the crash.

The names of the pedestrian and driver were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
