Marion County firefighters battled a blaze that ignited inside a Belleview home on Friday afternoon.
Shortly before 4:10 p.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the intersection of S U.S. Highway 441 and SE 119th Street due to reports of a residential structure fire in the area. Multiple individuals had called 911 to report an abandoned home that was on fire, with heavy black smoke and flames that were visible.
According to MCFR, Belleview Station #18 was the first to arrive at the residence at 4:11 p.m. Crew members observed the single-story home, which was “fully involved in flames,” and heavy woods and brush surrounded the property.
Battalion Chief #3 arrived on scene and quickly established command. A full 360-degree inspection of the fire grounds was conducted, and several hazards were detected including a 100-pound propane tank and a downed power line.
Firefighters moved quickly to deploy hose lines, and they began attacking the flames. A primary and secondary search of the area was conducted by crews with negative results, and the fire was called under control shortly before 4:35 p.m., according to MCFR.
There were no injuries reported to firefighters or civilians.
The cause and origin of the fire is currently under investigation.
