Ocala woman jailed for stealing sedan at Marathon gas station

A 38-year-old Ocala woman was arrested after a man accused her of stealing his sedan at a gas station in Marion County.

On Wednesday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the Marathon gas station located at 7141 E Highway 25 in Belleview. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the male victim who advised that he was at the gas station to meet a woman named “Holly” to give her a ride home, according to the MCSO report.

The woman was later identified as Holly Marie Lackey.

The victim told the deputy that he had a medical emergency at the gas station shortly before the theft incident, which rendered him unconscious. While the victim was unconscious, his Infinity G35X was stolen, according to the MCSO report.

The victim stated that he did not give anyone permission to take his vehicle and he wanted to pursue criminal charges. The MCSO report stated that the victim believed that Lackey had stolen his vehicle.

The deputy reviewed the gas station’s video surveillance footage from the time of the incident. According to the MCSO report, the footage showed a white female – later determined to be Lackey – walking into the parking lot.

On the footage, Lackey was observed placing items near the back seat of the victim’s vehicle. She then entered the driver’s seat and drove away from the incident location, according to the MCSO report.

The deputy noted in the report that the victim was “laying in the parking lot unresponsive,” and Lackey was observed looking at the victim prior to leaving the location in the stolen vehicle. She did not offer any assistance to the victim, and she did not call 911 to get him medical attention.

On Thursday, at approximately 5:25 a.m., another MCSO deputy observed an Infinity G35X, and a search of the tag number confirmed that it was the victim’s vehicle. A traffic stop of the stolen vehicle was conducted in the 6400 block of SE 92nd Loop and Lackey was observed in the front passenger’s seat.

After being read her Miranda rights, Lackey confirmed that she was at the Marathon gas station in Belleview at the time of the theft. She admitted that she had observed the victim on the ground with another person standing nearby, according to the MCSO report.

Lackey claimed that her cellphone was not working and that she needed to check on a relative. She admitted to entering the victim’s vehicle and driving away from the gas station.

During the post-Miranda interview, Lackey told investigators that she took the victim’s vehicle “in order to meet him at the hospital” after he was transported by paramedics, according to the MCSO report.

Lackey was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where she is currently being held on $7,000 bond. She is facing felony charges for grand theft of a motor vehicle and unarmed burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
