Ms. Orie Dorch Simmons, age 90, formerly of Vernon, Florida passed away February 26, 2023, at her home in Ocala, Florida.
She was born March 7, 1932, in Washington County Florida to the late Johnny Dorch and Mae Goodson Dorch. In addition to her parents, Orie was preceded in death by her husband, James Simmons, two brothers, N.J. Dorch and Jack Dorch, and one sister, Ollie Brock.
Ms. Simmons is survived by one son, James Ronald Simmons and wife Sharon of Ocala, FL; two daughters, Rejeana Johnson and husband James ‘Jay’ of Ocala, FL and Janet Claytor and husband Dale of Ocala, FL; one sister, Ocie Howell and husband James of Vernon, FL; a brother-in-law, Drexel Brock of Vernon, FL; a sister-in-law, Joyce Dorch of Vernon, FL; nine grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Allison Johnson Laplant, Logan Johnson, Brad Drake, Rachel Drake Garcia, Elizabeth Howell Carr, Brittany Todd, Aimee Barbier, and David Simmons; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Vernon Evangelistic Church. Interment will follow in the Weeks Cemetery in Washington County Florida with Peel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 PM at Vernon Evangelistic Church, 3119 Main Street, Vernon, Florida.
