The victim told the deputy that Grant was on the couch across from her in the living room, and they were watching television. She stated that she had presumed that Grant had fallen asleep on the couch, according to the MCSO report.

The victim advised that Grant proceeded to stand up, and he approached her and began choking her. During the alleged attack, the victim stated that she was unable to breathe. The deputy noted in the MCSO report that the victim’s neck appeared to be “slightly red.”

The deputy made contact with a child who was in a nearby bedroom when the incident occurred. The child advised that there was a loud thud, and the child initially dismissed the sound until the victim began screaming for help.

According to the MCSO report, the child ran into the living room and observed Grant’s hands around the victim’s neck. The child then yelled at Grant several times before he let go of the victim’s neck.

Grant was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held without bond. He is facing a felony charge for committing domestic battery by strangulation.

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
