Herbert Brown
December 13, 1925 – February 28, 2023

Herbert Brown was born on December 13, 1925 to the union of the late King Matthew Brown and Elizabeth Beckett Brown in Garnett, South Carolina. He was one of thirteen siblings.

It was during the late fifties that Herbert moved to Ocala, Florida seeking a more progressive lifestyle and met Catherine and her five oldest children (Patrick, Larry, Linda, Terrell & Jerrell). Herbert fell in love with Catherine and thought nothing of taking in her family.

In the course of time, he asked her to marry him. She did so but only after they accepted the Lord into their lives and the two were baptized at Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1960 where he served on the deacon board. Herbert and Catherine were married on March 12, 1960. To this union three children were born: Michael, Derrick and Lashane. Herbert had tremendous love for his family and worked hard to support them. After retiring from his pulpwood business, he enjoyed selling watermelon for his son Larry.

Herbert lived a good life. He was kind and devoted. He was sincere about his relationship with God. He was a man of principle and practiced what he believed. He attracted many people in his life and was loved by all who knew him and often times would be found in Bible discussions.
