A 40-year-old convicted felon from Ocala was arrested by local police after a handgun, fentanyl, and cocaine were found in his possession.
On Thursday night, Ocala Police Department officers responded to the intersection of SW Fort King Street and SW 11th Avenue in reference to a male suspect threatening another individual with a firearm. Upon arrival, officers immediately located a man, identified in a social media post as Carlos Luis Rios III, who matched the suspect’s description.

According to OPD, an officer observed Rios as he attempted to conceal contraband underneath a vehicle. The officer approached the vehicle and retrieved a handgun, crack cocaine, and fentanyl.

A criminal history search of Rios revealed that he is a convicted felon, and he also had an active warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court.
Rios was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held on $65,000 bond. He is facing felony charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of fentanyl, and possession of crack cocaine.
A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, according to jail records.
