Gainesville woman in critical condition after motorcycle overturns in Alachua County

A 46-year-old woman from Gainesville was critically injured on Friday night after the motorcycle she was riding on overturned on State Road 331 in Alachua County.

At approximately 10 p.m., a 69-year-old Micanopy man (driver) and the woman from Gainesville (passenger) were traveling southbound on a motorcycle on State Road 331, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 441, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

When the motorcycle approached the intersection, FHP stated that the vehicle proceeded to overturn. The report mentioned that the driver and passenger were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash, and the passenger was listed in critical condition. Their names were not released by FHP.

The cause of the accident, including the possibility that another vehicle was involved, is still under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
