Ocala firefighters were dispatched to SW 20th Avenue on Friday evening after receiving reports of a grass fire in the area of Cala Hills.
Shortly before 6:30 p.m., Ocala Fire Rescue units consisting of Engine 1, Engine 4, Battalion Chief 11, and a Safety Officer responded to the 2800 block of SW 20th Avenue in Ocala.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and flames in an open wooded area behind a residential subdivision. OFR crews used over 400 feet of hose line to reach the affected area and combat the fire.


Within seven minutes of their arrival on scene, firefighters extinguished the flames.

There were no injuries reported and no properties were damaged by the fire, according to Ocala Fire Rescue.
