BRAZEN to host mental wellness workshop for Marion County’s youth, adults

The Florida Department of Health in Marion County’s BRAZEN program is inviting local youth and adults to attend an upcoming workshop that will focus on mental wellness.

On Thursday, April 13, from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., BRAZEN will host the free workshop for parents and youth (ages 10 and up) at the College of Central Florida Klein Conference Center, which is located at 3001 SW College Road in Ocala.

Mental wellness has many parts, and workshop participants will learn how to connect those pieces through a discussion of the following topics:

  • What you don’t know can hurt you.
  • Digital dangers.
  • Hidden in plain sight.
  • Love shouldn’t hurt.

The event’s featured speaker will be Kevin Hines. In 2000, Hines jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge in an attempt to take his own life. He survived, and he has used that experience to teach others about the art of mental wellness and how to overcome adversity.

There is no cost to attend the event, and it includes a complimentary dinner. Pre-registration is recommended but not required.

For more information, or to RSVP for the event, call 352-438-5990.
