Man dies after crashing motorcycle into car at Marion County intersection

A 31-year-old man from Minnesota died on Tuesday evening after his motorcycle crashed into a car at an intersection in Marion County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, a 53-year-old Belleview woman was traveling eastbound on SE 123rd Lane, near the intersection of SE 92nd Loop, at approximately 6:20 p.m. At the same time, the 31-year-old motorcyclist was heading southbound on SE 92nd Loop.

FHP stated that the sedan was at a stop sign at the intersection when the vehicle proceeded to travel into the path of the motorcycle. As a result, the motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the sedan.

The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. According to the FHP report, the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver and sole occupant of the sedan was not injured in the crash.

The names of the drivers involved in the accident were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
