Marion County firefighters were dispatched to Interstate 75 on Wednesday night after multiple 911 callers reported that a tour bus was on fire.
Shortly after 7 p.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units were sent to the scene of the vehicle fire, which was located in the southbound lanes near mile marker 342 of I-75. At 7:19 p.m., The Bomberos from MCFR Station #24 arrived on scene, and crews observed a bus that was “fully involved in flames.”
Firefighters moved quickly to deploy hose lines, and additional crew members from Friendship Fire Station Engine #21 assisted with battling the blaze.
In a social media post, MCFR stated that firefighters managed to extinguish the flames within eight minutes, and crews from Tanker #16 provided a water supply to put out “hotspots.”
No further details were provided regarding the cause of the fire or whether there were any injuries.
