Levitt AMP returns to Webb Field this week

The 2023 Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series is kicking off this week with a free concert featuring singer-songwriter Veronica Lewis.

The concert will take place on Friday, April 14, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Webb Field, which is located at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Complex (1501 NW 4th Street). After an opening performance from local singer Becky Baby, 18-year-old Veronica Lewis will take the stage to perform original songs on piano that combine the language of the blues with the energy of roots rock and roll.

The Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series is a joint partnership between the Marion Cultural Alliance and the City of Ocala. On each Friday through June 23 (excluding May 26), additional concerts will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Webb Field:

  • Friday, April 21 – SambaDá (Brazilian Fusion).
  • Friday, April 28 – Bassel & the Supernaturals (Funk).
  • Friday, May 5 – The Harlem Gospel Travelers (Gospel).
  • Friday, May 12 – Shayna Steele (Soul).
  • Friday, May 19 – The Malpass Brothers (Classic Country).
  • Friday, June 2 – Chris Pierce (Singer-Songwriter/Folk).
  • Friday, June 9 – Vox Sambou (Haitian Traditional Rhythms/Hip Hop/Reggae/AfroBeat).
  • Friday, June 16 – Yusa (World).
  • Friday, June 23 – Shamarr Allen (Jazz/Hip Hop).

In addition to featuring a diverse lineup of artists that span multiple musical genres, the concert series will also celebrate Black Music Month in June with African American and Black musicians and a partnership with Ocala’s Juneteenth Celebration.

Each concert will spotlight a local non-profit organization that will conduct a special activity or performance during the event’s intermission. There will also be plenty of food trucks and an Ocala Recreation Mobile trailer with outdoor games and activities.

Admission to each concert is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.
