‘Legends of the Fort’ returning to Fort King on April 29

An upcoming event at the Fort King National Historic Landmark will allow visitors to step back into history to meet the legends of the fort’s past.

On Saturday, April 29, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host “Legends of the Fort” at the Fort King National Historic Landmark, which is located at 3925 E Fort King Street in Ocala.

The event will feature a one-hour guided lantern tour that will provide tales from the past while guests learn about the grounds of Ocala’s Seminole War historic site. The group tours will depart every 15 minutes throughout the event.

Those in attendance will be able to partake in old-fashioned games such as checkers, horseshoes, and cornhole, and live music will round out an evening of fun. Refreshments will also be available for purchase.

“Legends of the Fort” is a ticketed event. General admission is $10 per person, and children ages 5 and under get in for free. Tickets are available online, and each tour slot is limited in capacity.

Parking for the event will be located on NE 41st Avenue. Traffic signs will be available to direct incoming guests to the parking area, and the marked walking trail will be used to enter the event. There will be no onsite parking at the park.

A special ADA-compliant golf cart will be available to transport handicapped or disabled guests to the entrance of the event.
