During the Ocala City Council meeting that was held on Tuesday, the city recognized three Ocala Police Department sergeants for their 20 years of service to the community.
In a social media post, OPD stated that the following individuals have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the safety of Ocala’s citizens over the past two decades:
Sergeant Jared Sieg
In 1997, Jared Sieg’s career with OPD began as a police explorer. He was later hired as a part-time member of the Supply Department while he attended college.
Sieg joined OPD as a full-time patrol officer in 2003, and he has gone on to serve in numerous roles within the department, including in the Traffic Unit, Training Unit, and every element of SWAT. He currently serves as a patrol sergeant and the sniper team leader within the department.

Sergeant Scott Rowe
Scott Rowe joined OPD in 2003, and he has spent approximately half of his career in the Investigative Services Bureau. Last year, he received the Vance Ferguson Award of Merit for his exceptional investigative skills. According to OPD, this seldom-issued award is reserved for individuals who have reached a significant investigative achievement.
Rowe currently holds the position of sergeant in the Intelligence Unit, and his extensive experience and skills help support his team. In addition, he has been a vital member of the SWAT team for over 15 years.
OPD stated that Rowe has consistently shown a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure the safety and security of the community. His leadership skills and extensive experience also make him an indispensable member of the department.
